Zombies on the Dance Floor
by Daniella, Sanyu, Kristina
I've been to several parties
And I've seen several things
But night life takes on a life of its own
When the air is full of green
Tired of looking at history
We prefer to tempt mystery
Putting a bottle to our lips
Is our choice of weaponry
See, not everyone believes in God
But everyone's got a soul
So we'll drink, smoke, and drown our conscience
Until they take their toll
We're all just
Zombies on the Dance Floor
and we think we got it down
Shakin' it 'till we got no more
'Till trajedy comes around
Because, those who live fast
are known to die young
(James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, Biggie Smalls, Tupac)
Watching our futures slip away
Though our lives have just begun
I'm just a Zombie on the Dance Floor
And I ask my friends:
What have we become?
Slowly digressing to the beat
of an oppressive drum
The drum 'n bass
may put a smile on their face
But wouldn't you agree
that even the music's a disgrace?
Overglittered pop stars provide tunes
to get the party started
While wanna-be preteens
Get their drink on in the backseats of cars
And while little women crave attention
They receive it for a price in scars
Too soon are we witness
to a transformation over years
Drowning sorrow in their drinks
Then salting drinks with tears
It's a familiar situation
An increasing statistical devastation nationwide
Wide, like the eyes of innocence
Apparent in the beginning
Wide, like their parents eyes
To find out they've been sinning
And wide, like the legs of young girls,
Submissive after drinking
Young women,
Take a step back from the dance floor
Figure out why you're forgetting
More and more
What pleased you during childhood
Why the pure is such a bore
I can see the wick dying
in your candle eyes
Burning low
I can see your mother listening,
picking out the lies
Yeah, she knows
Quit now, because
we've seen it all before
Bright young minds becoming
Zombies on the Dance Floor
I'm just a Zombie on the Dance Floor
And, oh boy, help me
Because all the ways you've told me to be
Have shaped my identity
You say you like girls
who are spunky
But when I speak my mind
You say "Cut the feminist crap"
And just like that
You've turned me into a zombie
And why?
Why?
I'll tell you why
The first second you spotted me
You licked yor lips and
ran your eyes across my dancing hips
And from that moment
I was turned into meat
You and your fleet of crotch-driven monsters
took a sheet and
Covered my identity
So now you've got me convinced
I could lose a little weight
in my arms and my thighs
And when she cries
And when I cry
You turn your back
And as a matter of fact
I used to believe I was beautiful
Precious
Just like my mom always
used to call me
But now your thievery
has got me believing
I need to be full in this place
And that I could have a
Better-looking face
And that I'll only be the tightest chick
If I lick your...
And I'm compromising my confidence and
individuality and
have turned into a zombie
You want me to be faceless
Basically tasteless
Because every woman has her own spice
But when you take that life away
She becomes like every other zombie
So, boy, you listen to me
Next time you want to objectify my body
And mold my mentality
into a self-hating conformity
Just think of me
Spinning you around,
Staring at your titties,
Cornering you,
And forcing you to please me
Please Me
I'll climb on top of you
And hold you down
And rape you
And leave your body and mind
Black and Blue
But, oh no, I won't think anything of it
I'll just look away while I destroy your
Happiness, mind, life, and identity
And turn you into a zombie
Because, we're all just
Zombies on the Dance Floor
Shakin' it 'till we got no more
And
For those of us out there
who don't care to resist
If we were to offer protest
It would be just this.
